A good friend of mine is buried at Camp Butler in Springfield. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam war, and was buried at Camp Butler in 2015 with military honors.

As difficult as it is to see the rows and rows of white crosses, knowing the suffering the individuals buried beneath may have endured, Camp Butler in Springfield does a great job in providing a calm, respectful, and beautiful environment for family members, friends, and loved ones to pay their respects.

Towards the front of the Springfield cemetery entrance, there is a building where you can enter the name of your loved one, and other details, and it will tell you where in the cemetery they’re buried, so you can quickly find the right plot.

Camp Butler in Springfield is a beautiful, wonderful tribute to our Illinois men and women in uniform, who either paid the ultimate sacrifice, or were willing to do so.
